What critics and judges wrote

IWSC judges · Silver · 2023
Luscious raisins and sultanas, infused with toffee apple and baking spice on the nose and palate. Delightful in its complexity as orange oil delicately coats dried fruits, caramel and cinnamon to finish.

Exquisitely expressive with complex aromas of pineapple, apricot jam, Danish pastry, cherries, and plums. The background cereal charm along with the delicate charred notes gradually evolve into a long, pleasant and easy-going finish.

Aromas of eucalyptus and sweet, red fruit tart lashed with custard emerge before the palate delivers candied orange peel, red apples and chocolate supported by a great backbone of spice.

The dram has warmth and earthen notes to complement the sherry-driven nose. The palate continues this creamy mouthfeel with dry toffee. The finish is flaky pastry on warm wood.
Gold2019iwsc.net ↗
A pronounced and clean nose of fresh toffee, malty aromas, baking spices and roasted coffee with cocoa. There's a well managed influence of wood with vanilla, custard and some deeper nutty notes. … It has a refreshing and delightful finish.

Dollop of sherry on the nose which leads to some summer fruits and spice close notes. The palate gives wonderful rich flavours of strawberry, cracked black pepper and cinnamon.

Honey is the fist note out of the glass, backed with milk chocolate and hazelnuts. The palate is oily and rich with Christmas cake, oak, cherry jam and Bakewell tart. … A delicious dram.

Full on honey notes arrive on the nose, with a blast of rich all spice and jam doughnuts, too. The palate is sweet with a hint of real vanilla, chopped hazelnuts and milk chocolate.

Whisky Advocate · Jonny McCormick · 2018
Brooding, primal, and robust thanks to its fat, rolling, oily notes … The fruit and chocolate stay one step ahead of the spices … Unmistakable, epic whiskey.

Wow! … This is the better of the two, a whopping oily, woody package of classic pot still Irishness. The green fruits tumble over tannin and spice like frisky puppies.
Distiller · Stephanie Moreno
There is a gentle sweet cereal nose mixed with caramel and honey. As you taste, you'll find a major vanilla presence along with lots of wood and baking spices. Rich and chewy with a slightly slick and sweet finish …

Lemon, caramel and a nuttiness open on the nose, with tropical fruit, Cadbury Fruit & Nut bars, and spiced wood developing on the palate. The finish is long and elegant, with something aromatically perfumed evolving.

Apple pie, vanilla, honey, very enjoyable with good tropical fruit, pineapple charred, toffee, fudge, fruit skins keeping it fresh and a great example of pot still distillation.
The whisky presents an ethereal nose with notes of butter and dessert wine. On the palate, it is quite woody and fairly neutral, yet round, smooth, and clean.
