On January 9, 1878, the Spanish vessel Providencia was wrecked in a shallow reel off Southeast Florida. Bound from Havana, Cuba to Cadiz, Spain, her cargo was 20,000 Trinidadian coconuts. She was also loaded with rum, wine and cigars. Rumour was that the wreck was intentional to collect the insurance proceeds whilst giving the cargo to pioneer settlers. They, in turn, planted the coconuts all over the area and thus Palm Beach was born - a town known across the globe today for its palm trees waving in the Florida sunshine. Carefully crafted from the finest rums, barrel aged for added flavour and sourced from four different Caribbean islands.
