8 Attributes For the production of our rums, we use pure spring water from our own cloud forest; a 270 Hectare Nature Reserve. We use barrels made from a unique oak variety: White Colombiam Oak. Our barrels have never contained another liquor; they have been exclusively crafted for aging Ron Viejo de Caldas. Our rum is aged at more than 7,200 feet above sea level, which generates slow, smooth and balanced reactions. Our traditional aging cellars were built following special features that allow us to control the conditions within, giving Ron Viejo de Caldas the character that makes it unique. Our Ron Viejo de Caldas is made from virgin honey, otherwise known as the "Honey of Gods," which is the first extract resulted after processing cane juice extracts. In our nature reserve, we take care of the mountains and their ecosystem that bears fruit to the waters which will later serve as elixers in our rums. Since 1928, with the first formula of our rum set by Ramon Badia, the company has respected and continue with the tradition of several generations of rum masters.
