Won Double Gold medal in the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. These particular barrels were filled at 114 proof in the year 2010, but after more than twelve years of aging the whiskey is now 124.7 proof. 64% of the original whiskey lost to evaporation. Nose: Toasted coconut, butterscotch, and caramel. Palate: Touch of mint, dark cherry, and molasses. Finish: A full-bodied finish containing a hint of leather, nutmeg, toffee, and vanilla. Born in 1825, William Larue Weller was one of the early whiskey pioneers in Kentucky. After serving in the Louisville Brigade during the 1840's, William Larue Weller remained in Louisville and continued his family heritage in the whiskey business. Weller was famous for his Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey using wheat instead of rye in the mash bill. As one of the most distinguished of his time, William Larue Weller spend many years educating consumers about the different styles of bourbon, and the special flavors that wheat imparted to his whiskey in particular.
