Product Description

SKIREN adj. Old Norse, glittering, bright skies Inspired by summer's bright GLITTERING SKIES, described in Old Norse as skiren, this expression is exclusively matured in FIRST-FILL American oak casks for a smooth creamy sweetness with a hint of tropical fruits, citrus and coastal HEATHER. Within reach of Arctic Circle, Scapa, part of the Orkney Isles archipelago is ruled by the Elements. Perched on the Tranquil shores of Scapa Flow, the Scapa distillery is perfectly placed to look out upon the Ever-Changing seas and skies. To survive here, Islanders have learnt to harness nature's contrasts and make the most of the gentler months when the Horizon is bright and gleaming. It is these light summer nights, when our home is bathed in Endless twilight, that have inspired the creation of this Smooth, honeyed Single Malt. Crafted the Orcadian way, our team of artisans pride themselves on using Traditional methods and skills honed over several generations. The result is deliciously Smooth, flowing with mellow fruits and Heather-Honey and bringing to mind Scapa Flow's Natural sanctuary from the restless Elements beyond. What critics and judges wrote

Whisky Advocate · Gavin Smith · 2015
An initial hint of lime cordial, then musty peaches, almonds, cinnamon, and table salt. … Tingling spices in the drying finish, which soon becomes quite bitter - detracting from the overall balance.

Distiller · Thijs Klaverstijn
Attractive aroma of cut, bruised apple parts, glazed with honey. … The palate gives a flavor of chocolate, before settling into very malty territory, with some bitter oak an cloves. Perfectly fine, accessible malt whiskey.

IWSC judges · Gold · 2017
White flowers of Lily of the Valley, daisy and white musk, too. … The palate gives some vanilla at first, with more orange and cream-like notes finished off with some oak spice.
