The palate has elegance and poise, with a hint of menthol lifting off into pecan and light grippy oak. Has excellent length and mellow flow. Water slightly reduces its voluptuous charms, so be careful (or simply avoid).

Product Description
Founded in 1698 at No.3 St James's Street in London, Berry Bros. & Rudd is probably the world's oldest wine and spirit merchant. As proprietors of The Glenrothes, it is Berry Bros. & Rudd's values of quality and integrity which determine the philosophy behind this well-bred Speyside single malt: Vintage whisky, like vintage wine, matures at its own pace. Our long history has provided us with the understanding and the patience to ensure that we only offer expressions of The Glenrothes to our discerning customers at the moment when our experts deem them to be perfectly mature and ready to be savoured. The Glenrothes bottled at its peak of maturity and flavour, rather than at a predeterminded age. Distillation is unusually slow and takes place in tall stills, which delivers a sweet clear fruity spirit. Maturation is in American oak and Spanish oak casks which produces our award-winning Speyside single malt. All our malt is Vintage whisky, representing a single year or collection of years. Our single Vintages, limited and rare, each capture a unique essence and flavour, never to be repeated. Our reserves give you the opportunity of enjoying a number of selected Vintage from different years - married together in perfect harmony. Display Tubes/Boxes: Display boxes subject to availability.

What critics and judges wrote
A lovely, honeyed nose greets you, with custard, vanilla, malt, lemon zest, and toasted nuts. … A solid, baseline Speyside malt that blends the deeper texture of old whisky with the bright, floral aspects of younger vintages.
Hard barley and iron on the nose; pervasively industrial with tart gooseberry and lime. A touch of creamy oak appears, but not enough to mitigate the distillery ‘character’.
Competition medals
3 medals from 2 competitions, 2015 to 2017.

Flavor scores are our estimates. A flavor scores higher when more critics mention it and when they describe it more strongly, so no single review sets the result. They are not a rating from any publication.
