The perfect partnership of Oloroso sherry seasoned American and European oak casks create the distinctive, warm character of this harmonious single malt. The delicate and indulgent flavours of American oak including vanilla, orange and toffee support the Macallan's more traditional characteristics of rich fruits and wood spice which takes centre stage. Intense, sweetish oak, some sherry, nuances of dried fruit, toffee and vanilla, warm spices, citrus hints. Complex, balanced and typical nose. Very soft on the palate, almost sweetish. Notes of vanilla and caramel, lingers for a long time.
Lots of sherry influence here paired with the robust malt notes bring dark toast, nuts, and dark chocolate to the nose. … On the palate the whisky is chewy with flavors leaning more bitter than sweet.
