Backbone "Prime" is a tribute to batch 1 of backbone "uncut", our first release of barrel strength bourbon. That batch was rich and full with less barrel influence. "Prime" is a combination of different aged bourbons that are blended at a high proof to provide consistency of flavor. The proof of Prime stands tall in tribute to the extra flavor found in higher proof offerings. It was created for the serious bourbon drinker, but we believe it will also appeal to adventurous newcomers to the great world of American craft spirits.

Up front it is extremely off-putting, with overwhelming medicinal, musk, and anise notes … Grain doesn't go away; it almost masks specks of brown sugar and citrus before a short finish with an unrelenting bitterness.
