Product Description

Three Cask Matured Three cask maturation in bourbon, sherry and virgin oak for signature smoothness layered with orchard fruit, honey sweetness, rich vanilla and mellow oak spice. A Speyside single malt Scotch whisky as intriguing and extraordinary as Benriach could not have come to be without a unique whisky making heritage, dating from 1898, when founder John Duff built his distillery. Ruggedly beautiful, Benriach stands on the site of the old Riach farm in north Speyside, drawing water from a mineral-rich aquifer, deep beneath the distillery. Thanks to a long-standing tradition of distilling three styles of whisky; classic unpeated, Highland peated and triple distilled, together with an electric selection of casks from around the world, our whisky makers are able to explore the full flavour possibilities of single malt, creating some of the richest, most multi-layered whiskies in Speyside. This tradition continues today, under the guidance of Master Blender, Rachel Barrie. Benriach is the story of a hidden Speyside gen; quietly revealing its treasures to be discovered and savoured. Bourbon Cask | Sherry Cask | Virgin Oak To craft Benriach The Original Ten, Benriach spirit is three cask matured for at least ten years in bourbon barrels, sherry casks and virgin oak casks. The whisky from each casks is then expertly married together to create a signature smooth malt, layered with orchard fruit, honey sweetness and toasted oak, with a finishing note of almond and spiced vanilla, all in perfect balance. COLOUR: summer gold NOSE: rich orchard fruits, honey and toasted PALATE: ripe pear, necatire and malt sweetness, with a finishing note of almond and spiced vanilla Display Tubes/Boxes: Display boxes subject to availability.

Falstaff · November 2020
Very complex, fresh aroma with light malt, acacia honey and lemon curd. Animating on the palate, the complex spiciness plays around caramel and floral elements. Oak savouriness emerges on the long finish.

Waxed wood, linseed oil and window putty on the nose. Palate has notes of grass, subtle smoke, and a hint of chocolate sweetness. Finished with smoked pears, coconut, and buttery richness. Well balanced if a tad reticent.

Coconut and campfire smoke aromas lead into a lightly smoky palate underpinned by vanilla. A splash of water brings out lighter coconut and almond tones, fading into lemon cream tinged with honeyed raisin and cinnamon spice.
