… look for coconut, vanilla, oak and a dry finish accented with cocoa and leather. Just a splash of branchwater, and this is a sipper to savor.

Product Description
Truly a Bourbon for the avid collector, our 23-Year-Old Elijah Craig Bourbon is bottled solely from the contents of one barrel, not the mingling of many. Only a handful of barrels of Kentucky Bourbon have been allowed to age so long. Of these limited barrels, our Master Distiller hand-select only those of the highest quality and bottle the contents as an individually-numbered Single Barrel. in 1789, Rev. Elijah Craig, who is credited with being the "Father of Bourbon," became the first to age his whisky in charred oak barrels. Since then, Elijah Craig 23-Year-Old Single Barrel has garnered some of the industry's most prestigious accolades including a 97 point rating by Wine Enthusiast and Double Gold in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

What critics and judges wrote
And yes, there's plenty of oak influence. But there's an underlying sweetness that balances the oak spice … Chewy in texture, with toffee, dates, fig cake (with nuts), barrel char, tobacco, leather, and a dusting of cocoa.
It still has all the showmanship of a great bourbon - fruit, caramel richness, vanilla, leather and lots of spice - but perhaps not as vigorous it was in its younger years, and slightly musty as to be expected.
