What critics and judges wrote

Wine Enthusiast · Kara Newman · September 2016
Balanced with a bit of water, the caramel palate shows zesty orange peel, espresso, maple and clove. The long finish is bracing and drying, with leather and oak, plus flickers of citrus and spice.

Pour this single-barrel Bourbon some time in advance to allow it to open up and reveal crème caramel aromatics … Sweet and smooth, this whiskey finishes with dry espresso, dark chocolate and black-tea notes. Mix into classic cocktails.

The beautifully balanced bouquet features leathery, mildly sweet breakfast cereal and honeyed grainy scents. The entry is equally splendid with smoldering flavors of light caramel, nougat or almond paste, and oaky vanillin …

Aromas and flavors of coconut caramel dream bar, cola float, honeysuckle, and putty … A nice combination of fruit, spice, and mint tea make this a pleasure to drink.
Whisky Advocate · Jeffery Lindenmuth · 2018
This big, sweet, warming bourbon strikes all the right chords. … A solid and seamless whiskey, with fruit, floral, oak, and spice in perfect harmony.

A fuller-bodied, sweeter encounter than Barrel #55-6F reviewed below. More rounded and even-keeled throughout, too! Chewy toffee, rummy molasses, and nougat, with underlying notes of dark, berried fruit, accentuating spice, and supple leather. The heavyweight of the group.
A lively bourbon, with bright fruit, honeyed vanilla, and fragrant floral notes. Lean on the palate, with a firm, dry, spicy finish. A youthful whiskey that skips along until the finish.
This whiskey is nicely balanced, with a teasing subtleness to it. I particularly enjoy its delicately honeyed, floral, crisply spicy aroma, with underlying notes of vanilla cream and candied fruit.
IWSC judges · Silver · 2026
Rich molasses and charred sugar meld seamlessly with pencil shavings, orange peel and apricot, lifting subtle menthol and allspice. This complexity continues with leathery dark chocolate and toasted spices, before a smooth creaminess and gentle peach linger.

Spicy with black pepper, chilli flakes and oak notes. Dry with some sweetness.

Gloriously tropical with bold orange wax and grapefruit, barley sugar and subtle floral notes. Perfumed and bold, with a heady mix of stewed fruits, rich cinnamon, nutmeg and walnut. Excellent integration, weighty and releasing immense length on the finish.

Delicate aromas of melon, with a rich banana bread and vanilla profile on the palate. Beautifully balanced fruit and alcohol with a long finish.
Distiller · Rob Morton
The nose is full of cherries, pear, and chocolate along with some oak and toffee. … The long, easy finish comes back to the cherries, sugars, and oak.

First on the nose there is some syrupy apricot, followed by notes of burnt sugar. The palate is sweet, with brown sugar, dried fruit and light spice in to a medium finish.
