Glenmorangie's Nectar D'Or is a standout in their line-up, a wonderfully elegant dram. The sweetness of honey comes across on the initial taste, along with candied orange peel, vanilla, pear, and a touch of salt.
Elegant and creamy crème brûlée with chocolate-covered Brazil nuts, lemon tart with vanilla pods sprinkled liberally. Juicy and ripe mango with a beautiful satin-like texture on the finish.
Nose brings toffee, salted caramel or perhaps caramel fudge alongside chlorine and ozone. To taste is crème brûlée, some bitterness, and a plastic edge like sucking air through the barrel of a biro.
Smells of smoky, burnt nectarine, apricot and buttery scents that are toasty, nutty and heavenly. Entry is chewy, viscous, concentrated and intensely honeyed; the midpalate is waxy, mildly spicy, jammy, nutty and utterly decadent. Finishes with panache and grace.
