Lochlea is an independent, family-owned distillery in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. We grow our own barley, distil our unique spirit and mature all of our casks on site. We are focused on crafting an outstanding whisky for everyone to enjoy. Our local ingredients, process and maturation combine to offer a distinctive style of Scotch Whisky that we love, and hope you will too. Our Barley is the first core Single Malt Whisky we have released. Production Director John Campbell refined the cask recipe over several months, and the final whisky was decided following a blind tasting by the Lochlea team. By using First-Fill Bourbon Barrels, Oloroso Sherry Butts and STR Barriques, the nose opens up with a burst of pear syrup and fruit bon bons, followed by hints of zesty marmalade and cinnamon. The palate shows the signature Lochlea fresh fruit and cereal, with a luscious golden syrup. Finally, it shifts to macadamia nuts, cream soda, and a lovely lasting orange beeswax note.
