What critics and judges wrote

Wine Enthusiast · Kara Newman · December 2025
The caramel scent is laced with savory spice. On the palate, that savory note is amplified as a mesquite-like flavor, alongside bold caramel touched with clove and cayenne. Oak dries the brisk and warming finish.

The palate opens big and spicy, showing black pepper, cayenne and clove around a juicy red fruit core. … Most of the flavor is on the drying finish, showing prune, cocoa powder and a final peppery tingle.
Whisky Advocate · Gavin Smith · 2019
The nose is soft and fragrant, with vanilla, red berries, toffee, and ultimately, damsons. Viscous on the palate, with blackcurrants, plums, port wine, and cinnamon.

IWSC judges · Gold · 2019
Well composed and big with integrated alcohol and tannins. This is a beautiful dram with layers of flavours and a wonderfully oily palate with smooth and elegant wood spices on a long and lingering finish with nutmeg and sultanas.

Well-balanced with a lovely weight to the palate and flavours of caramelised apple, milk chocolate and dried fruit before a seductively smooth finish.
Silver2022iwsc.net ↗
Rich and luxurious with lovely aged notes of baked apple, orange blossom and a generous slice of marzipan. Pleasantly dry on the finish with a succulent twist of liquorice.

Has all the hallmarks of a delicious Christmas cake. Full of festive splendour; warming flavours of cinnamon, ginger and citrus peel. A truly delectable mouthful.
