What critics and judges wrote

Whisky Advocate · Davin de Kergommeaux · 2013
Typical rye spices bathe in rich, smooth caramels and burnt sugar, with a gingery cayenne burn. … This classic high-rye whisky from Alberta Distillers brings suggestions of dark fruit to an underlying nuttiness.

Distiller · Stephanie Moreno
The aroma is focused on vanilla and dark wood which continues on the palate. The bitterness and sweetness see-saw back and forth but in the end, bitter wins the battle. … hence the suggestion of enjoying with a cola.

A clean but dull aroma. The palate entry is pleasantly grainy, uncomplicated, and candy sweet; at midpalate there's a firm thrust of dark caramel fudge but that's it. Ends up moderately tasty, very sweet and candied.
