An Oa is a more approachable Ardbeg. It lacks some of the typical oiliness, but flavor and complexity abound with hot peat, black tea, and peppery cloves. … new converts have a real treat in store.

Product Description
Like the peninsula that shares its name, Ardbeg An Oa is particularly rounded, due in no small part to time spent in the gathering vat. Here we marry together whisky from several different casks, including new charred oak, PX sherry and first fill bourbon. Here they become fully familiar with each other.

What critics and judges wrote
A fine fruitiness plays around the balanced peat notes … The palate is grippy with a herbaceous, smoky attack … With notes of cooled campfire, the finish is slightly fruity and sweet.

There is a honeyed BBQ note in the strong peat note, plus beautiful wood notes and malty sweetness. The smoke is drier on the palate, with heather and oak notes. Long finish.
Aromas of lemon meringue cream underpinned by hints of sweet caramel. On the palate, cooked banana and a whisper of chilli spice emerge, complemented by a refreshing touch of young pea pods. Warm lingering finish.

The smoky aroma reveals notes of citrus and buttery hazelnut, unfolding into a rich, viscous palate of toffee, fruitcake, and smoked meat. The finish is warm and gently oaky, with a clean hint of lemon.
Sultry sherry notes on the nose transition to a palate of satisfying richness and well-balanced alcohol. A warm, spicy finish with a zing of ginger and pineapple.
Dried savoury rich date fruit on the nose like smouldering burning bonfire embers. On the palate Kendal Mint cake with sweet marzipan. A sustained lingering smoky finish.
Interesting assortment of copper, jerky and molasses, followed by sweet builders tea, chocolate, cooked apples and glazed dried apricots. Bonfire smoke and milk chocolate on the finish. Delicious.
Meaty with spicy liquorice balance, lifted notes of toffee and fudge underpinned by peat intensity and a dry smoky finish.
Slow to open but gives up some ripe stone fruit and cigar characteristics; oily walnut flavours and a burst of sea salt on the finish.
Quite a peaty beast. However, there are plenty of other flavours to keep you interested, with fresh apples, liquorice, cloves and butterscotch all there to be discovered.
Classic light and punchy peat smoke with a hint of lemon zest. … Round and elegant on the plate with big peat smoke and citrus zest and maybe tarred rope. All in balance building up a great and refreshing finish.
It’s Ardbeg, but not, all at the same time. … The palate begins with sweet creamy malt. This is Ardbeg?! But returns to the fold with peppery smoke and salted meat.
