Product Description
Kilchoman Distillery sits nestled amongst the traditional farm buildings of Rockside Farm on the north-west coast of Islay, sheltered beneath the Creag Mhor headland. Famous as Islay's Farm Distillery, the distillery's barley fields stretch west to the shores of Machir Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Kilchoman is unique in many ways, most notably for our 100% Islay range, Scotland's only single malt produced from barley both grown and malted on Islay. Established in 2005, Kilchoman is true to the islands rich farm distilling heritage, using local peat cut in the traditional way, slowly distilling by hand, maturing in traditional dunnage warehouses and bottling on site without colouring or chill-filtration. Sanaig, named after a weather-beaten headland north-west of the distillery, is a vatting of both sherry and bourbon casks. The high proportion of sherry cask maturation creates a distinctively rich, fruity character balanced with citrus, caramel and peat smoke.

A smoky aroma with hints of honeycomb leads to a rich, fruity palate layered with gentle spice and smooth vanilla custard, finishing with subtle heat.
Delicate fruit and florality lead on the pronounced nose. Marzipan, sherry, and peat on the rich palate with a complex, long, and pleasant finish of almond paste and Oloroso sherry.
Rich creamy crème brûlée aromas, leather and sweet tobacco. Compact Christmas cake flavours with dried fruit and smoky chocolate. Great satisfying dry smoke finish.
Rich fruitcake with dried dates and a certain meat tang. Barbeque smoke balances elegantly with juicy sultanas, liquorice and earthy nuances. Tarry and fruit forward with sharp notes and an enduringly dry finish.
Lemon peat smoke gives this whisky a really lovely flavour of big fruit fruits and zest. The palate is baked Alaska, vanilla and toasted almonds and the finish, more of the same!
