Product Description

In 1891 a whiskey expert noted that Craigellachie represented a style of whisky "seldom met with now," which we took as a compliment. Today we still use olf-fashioned worm tubs to cool our spirit and bestow it with extra flavour, creating a dram to rival whiskies twice its age. A worm tub is a long copper tube, sitting in a large tank of cold water, which snakes back and forth and gradually gets narrower. In 1891 many distilleries condensed their spirit this way, giving their whiskies a distinctive, meaty character. Craigellachie is one of very few still benefiting from this traditional technique.

Discover layers of clove, anise, jasmine, and lemon peel, followed by delicate flavours of stone fruits intermingled with an appealing touch of bitterness.

Aromatic oak and gentle green citrus fruits, with pot pourri and blush apples. Youthful and fruity with sweetly creamy, grainy spice and heat intensity on the long finish.
Gold2021iwsc.net ↗
Serious, with a moreish spiced character, this is a wonderfully balanced and rounded example with notes of cassia bark, orchard fruits, earthy tea leaves and tobacco. Addictive and electrifying.

A rich offering filled with dried fruit, caramel and dark chocolate on the palate, balanced with hints of ripe fruit. Well-rounded with a touch of nutmeg on the finish.
Bronze2019iwsc.net ↗
A savoury style, with a complex and exciting set of aromas. Meaty elements, sweet nuts, cinnamon and baked apples hit the nose. The palate has honey and some balancing sweetness to the big savoury structure.
Falstaff · October 2017
Fruity, spicy malt, which is well supported by nutty barrel notes, characterizes the aroma. The maltiness is also the main component of the mouthfeel. Spicy islands of flavor emerge right through to the finish.

The first impression is rather restrained, herbs and pome fruit are recognizable. A beautiful maltiness builds on the palate with a few hints of coffee. The finish is all the more intense and lingers for a long time.
Whisky Advocate · Dave Broom · 2014
The initial impression is one of bulk. … The palate is, unsurprisingly, thick and creamy with huge fruit that fills the mouth. A highly physical, old-style Speyside dram with classic distillery character. A statement whisky that is a must-try.

Rich malt, apples dipped in honey, hay, and gentle wood spices fill your head as you inhale. … the spiced notes are heightened and finishes on the dry side, but there's still a little sweetness left to soften the blow.

The golden-coloured drink offers a nose of honey, toffee, and beeswax. A complex profile with sour and briny green olives and warm, spicy undertones … The experience rounds out with a sweet yet bitter aftertaste.
The nose is delightfully sweet, with caramel drizzle and pecan nuts. The palate is full of soft summer fruits with some mellow honey. The finish is a little short, with a hint of spice coming through.
A punchy nose of smoke, oats, grape, and a certain maritime twang. To taste, there are notes of well-seasoned wood, warm medicinal notes and a light, dried fruit sweetness.
