IWSC judges · Silver · 2023
Aromas of gentle peaty notes and underlying citrus with a nutty palate. Some charred oak and smoke with hazelnuts and a touch of spice.

Earthy and full of character with an abundance of soft fresh fruits and a delightful lingering cloud of cosy peat fire on the palate.
Silver2021iwsc.net ↗
Gorgeously luscious with delectable honey blossom and sweet peat notes. Vanilla at the end with a concluding gentle puff of smoke. Delightful.
Gold2019iwsc.net ↗
The start is a touch bitter, sweet, spicy and peaty with a great smoky element and a lively and layered palate. Very floral with plenty of chocolate. … A superb example with some fantastic blending skills demonstrated.
Silver Outstanding2016iwsc.net ↗
Well toasted almonds, pine nuts and a hint of honey, there is sweet toffee pop corn in the nose … On the palate this develops well into bold grain notes, some delicate sea salt, oils and fruits.
Whisky Advocate · Jonny McCormick · 2026
The palate has a thick, creamy mouthfeel, with vanilla, honey, peanut, and light spices, adding mandarin, green apple, and creamed coconut. Worth revisiting for an everyday pour as well as mixing.

Fresh apple juice, a twist of lemon, dried orange peel, peppercorn, cracker bread, and a vegetal spicy note. … Mild, agreeably smooth, without any bombast or hullabaloo; it just blends in.
Beverage Testing Institute · January 2019

Distiller · Stephanie Moreno
There is a moderate amount of peat smoke on the nose … As you begin to taste, dried herbs, cereal, and red fruits emerge. As you finish the malt, it becomes somewhat bitter and full of oak spice.

Farmyard aromas. Quite well rounded palate. After water a nice cherry bakewell flavour comes through.

Wine Enthusiast · P.P. · June 2006
There's lots of caramel, off-dry, honey wheat toast, salty/seabreeze character in the opening whiffs. Palate entry is noticeably oily and sinewy while at midpalate the flavor turns moderately peaty, dry and smoked. Ends up clean, off-dry, mildly pleasing but unmemorable.
