Product Description

Tullamore Dew 12 Year Old Special Reserve is a carefully crafted blend of old Irish whiskeys – full of complex flavours, perfectly married to give a sophisticated drinking session full of depth, character and maturity. It is a deluxe blend with "a full, smooth, well-rounded whiskey, combining maltiness and pot still character. Sweet spicy notes overlay rich woody background from the bourbon casks used in maturation". The whiskies in the Tullamore Dew 12 Year Old Special Reserve have a very high concentration of pot still and malt in addition to grain whiskies, triple distilled between 12 and 15 years ago from unmalted as well as malted barley. It is a very fine aged whiskey with more complexity coming from the additional aging. All the whiskies in the blend are matured in old Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, slowly reaching their perfection. The sherry cask finish gives a sweet nuttiness to the taste. It also has pleasant spicy back notes. Producer: Tullamore D.E.W. is the original triple distilled, triple blend whiskey. Known the world over for its smooth and gentle complexity. Tullamore D.E.W. is named after Daniel E. Williams, the man who decided that true craft could only come from the True Character and insisted that his whiskey was made accordingly. DANIEL E. WILLIAMS the creator of Tullamore D.E.W. A self-made man who worked his way up from a stable boy of the distillery to become the owner: he brought electricity, and motorised automobiles to Tullamore and created a whiskey so distinctive and character-filled, it could only be stamped with his initials D.E.W. The grandson of Daniel E. Williams, Desmond inherited his grandfather’s grit and determination. He followed his innovative footsteps by revolutionising the whiskey industry and introducing Ireland’s first blended whiskey. After 60 years of waiting in September 2014 Tullamore D.E.W. resumed production in it’s ancestral home of Tullamore, Co Offaly. Our new state-of-art distillery will ensure the legacy of our legendary whiskey will live on in the heart of Ireland for the foreseeable future.

Fresh clear apple juice at first, with elements of gorse and pear. Light and delicate, yet with some wood spices as well.

The nose is not super intense, but you do find vanilla, char smoke, and other bourbon influences. … The sherry wood character doesn't poke its head in until the very last minute as a dried fruit and nutty aftertaste.

Starts with bold apple and other orchard fruit, maybe even peach and tangerine with not just the sweet notes but the zesty crisp fruitiness too. Orange blossom honey, caramel pudding, tropical fruits, canned peach on the nose.
